The first action is to make sure that there is no power to the pump. This done by either removing its fuse or isolating the mini circuit breaker or if it is supplied from a 13amp socket, then, you can just unplug it.Top tip:Always make sure that you have got the correct size and type of replacement pump before you remove the old one. You can do this by taking a photo and noting all the characteristics.Should you not feel confident enough to carry out this task, then you should call in a professional plumber like a Roehampton Plumber who will charge, but will do the best job. However if you do:Whilst carrying out this replacement process a great amount of care should be taken not to damage the plastic water connections on the new unit from direct heat in case any soldering is required. And try not to cross thread any of the fittings.1). Isolate the water supply to the pipework. Open the drain cock to release any water from the pump pipework. The pump’s water connections are capped as they are normally flexi hoses. Some water may be discharged as you disconnect the pipework. As previously stated the connections are normally flexi, having a push fit or compression type of joint, making reconnection easy. 2). Undo the securing bolts from the base of the pump and unscrew the electrical terminal box lid and disconnect the cables. Always make a diagram of the electrical connections for re-fitting. Using a voltmeter or tester, confirm no electrical feed is present even though it is off. Remove the pump once all connections are undone. Roehampton Plumbers can fit all types of appliances. Finally:You can now go ahead and fit the new pump. This should be done in reverse order of the disconnection process. Once the electrics are re-connected, restore the water, restore the power and test for leaks etc.
